On September 22, UNICEF Korea announced, “BTS will give a message of hope at the high level meeting of the Group of Friends of Solidarity for Global Health Security on September 23 at 9 a.m. ET (10 p.m. KST).”
BTS was invited as a speaker by the Group of Friends of Solidarity for Global Health Security to give a speech to future generations who will face difficulties due to COVID-19. Group of Friends of Solidarity for Global Health Security was launched by the Republic of Korea in 2020 to discuss health and security issues including COVID-19 pandemic. More than 40 UN member states are participating and Korea, Denmark, Sierra Leone, Qatar, and Canada are co-chairs.
This will be BTS’ second time speaking at the United Nations General Assembly. The group has previously spoken at the launch ceremony of UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited at the 73rd UN General Assembly in 2018. Due COVID-19 pandemic, the 75th UN General Assembly is being held through ontact meetings and pre-recorded speeches.
