Soon after the release of Twice’s ninth mini album ‘More and More’, their music video was under fire after an American artist named Davis McCarty spoke up on his Social Media, mentioning one of his installations; ‘Pulse Portal’ was replicated and used in Twice’s music video.
Davis McCarty wrote, “Korean K-Pop band TWICE steals ‘Pulse Portal’ design and creates a replica for their music video. It already has 15 million views since its launch today on YouTube. This is blatant copyright infringement; art friends can you help give me some guidance?”
He has since deleted this post.
Here is an official statement from JYP Entertainment about this issue,
“This morning, we became aware that one of the set pieces in the ‘MORE & MORE’ music video shows resemblance to an existing piece of artwork. We have contacted the music video production company and requested that they speak with the creator of the original artwork to resolve this situation. As the agency responsible for releasing the works of our artists, we vow to strengthen our verification process so that this does not happen again.”
